MINNESOTA SNOWMOBILING ON LAKE VERMILION

The Lake Vermilion area offers easy access to more than 1,000 miles of interconnected groomed Minnesota snowmobile trails.

Since Lake Vermilion is located at the junction of the Arrowhead and Taconite trail systems, you can literally sled for days without seeing the same stretch twice. Trails are well-marked and detailed maps are available. The lake is staked with maps located at entry points.

Bring the family or make it an adults-only getaway – you won’t forget the trip!

The Vermilion Penguin Snowmobile Club provides services for trails and staking on the east end of Lake Vermilion.

The Cook Timberwolves Snowmobile Club provides services for trails and staking on the west end of Lake Vermilion.

2023 Trail Conditions will be posted as they become available. We are looking for volunteers to give weekly reports of realtime trail condiions. Please email the name of the trail, date, and trail condition to: coordinator@lakevermilion.org  Photos are always welcome.

A snowmobile that is not registered in the state of Minnesota needs a state trail sticker to be operated on a state or grant-in-aid snowmobile trail (the fee is included for snowmobiles registered within MN). The sticker costs $36 and is valid from November 1 through June 30. See details on how and where to purchase here: MNDNR Snowmobile Trail Permit info.
